Top 5 Reasons Why Your Car Won’t Start

It has happened to all of us at some point. You start your car, and it just won't turn on. This can be very frustrating, especially when you're trying to get somewhere quickly! It's important to understand why this is happening so that you can have it taken care of quickly. Check out these top five reasons your car won't start.

1. Dead Battery

If you've drained your car battery's energy, it may not be able to power up. This is especially true if you've been using the car's electronics while it was turned off. If the battery has been in storage for a long time or is old, then the battery could be depleted.

2. Battery Corrosion

If you've noticed a white powdery substance on your car battery terminals, then it could be time for an automotive service technician to check out the corrosion. Corrosion can damage batteries and prevent them from working properly.

3. Ignition Switch Failure

There are two main parts to the ignition switch. There is a metal piece that holds it in place, and there's also a spring-loaded plunger on top of this part, responsible for returning your key to its starting position once you turn off the car engine. If these pieces become corroded or damaged, your key could get stuck, and your car won't start.

4. Faulty Starter

The starter is the part of your car that actually turns over the engine. If it malfunctions, then the ignition will not be able to turn on, and you won't have any luck starting your car.

5. Clogged Fuel Filter

A clogged fuel filter can be an issue if your car is trying to start, but it just won't turn on. The reason for this is because the engine may not have enough fuel being sent through its system. A dirty or damaged gas tank, faulty pump, or a weak electrical current are other reasons why you might need a new fuel filter installed.
